A few months ago, our beauty director Joanie had the chance to go to Los Angeles to meet Rick Cooper, creative director for Shu Uemera Art of Hair USA. Here, he shares his ingenious tips and favourite products.

> “If you have flat hair, the best way to get long-lasting volume is to lift up a ‘shelf’ of hair (about five centimetres thick) onto the top of your head, crimp the roots of the strands underneath (using a crimping iron) and let the top section of hair fall and cover the crimped portion. Then brush the whole thing out.”

> “Every woman needs these products: a paddle brush to detangle and smooth, a hydrating mist to eliminate frizzies and add shine, a hairspray to keep styles in place all day long and a straightening iron to straighten or curl ends.”
