The shoe line comes under the umbrella of the pop Queen’s Truth or Dare brand and will be produced by Canada’s own Aldo Group Inc with rumors it will sell at The Bay (CA), Selfridges (UK), Nordstom and Macy’s (U.S) and online at ASOS.com.
With prices ranging from $89 to $349, the initial collection will have upwards of 60 styles, including flats, heels and booties. With dance influences in the form of studs and cap-toe details, Madonna pulled inspiration from styles she has worn throughout the years that she, “couldn’t live without” according to her stylist, Arianne Philips, who is also the acting creative consultant for the brand.
From what we’ve seen the shoes are kind of underwhelming. A platform pump? Studs? Faux lace print? Nothing groundbreaking here. TRUTH: We’ve seen better ideas come out of the designer collabs at Payless. DARE: With all your resources Madonna dear, hire some fresh and innovative up-and-coming co-designers to put some skip into yo’ steppers.
With expectations to expand to European retailers in 2013, Madonna will not stop there (does she ever?). She will continue to launch new products, such as intimates and potentially legwear, similar to failed-chanteuse-come-mogul Jessica Simpson (who FYI has over 20 product categories under her lifestyle brand). We are championing Madonna’s venture into pants if it means she will stop leaving the house in her underwear. Unlikely though.
