LOULOU Tested: The Tulasara Dual Exfoliation Facial

Aveda’s super-smoothing treatment is anything but average.

IN16_0390_r1Skin experts have long praised the benefits of exfoliation. Aside from clearing away a dull layer of dead skin (ick) and giving you a smoother, more radiant complexion, regular exfoliation also allows products to seep more easily into the skin.

Enter Aveda’s Tulasara Dual Exfoliation Facial, a non-invasive treatment for softer and more radiant skin. After removing my makeup using Tulasara Professional Cleanser, my aesthetician, Alex at Civella Salon & Spa in Rosedale, Toronto, applied Aveda’s Tourmaline Refiner, a physical exfoliant containing bits of bamboo and finely ground tourmaline to smooth and recharge the skin. The scrubbing sensation was palpable, yet satisfying.

Next up, Aveda’s Professional Plant Peel, a mask that literally warms to the touch to open pores and draw out toxins. After that came the coolest part — literally and figuratively. Alex deeply cleansed and purified my skin by pouring cool water over Dead Sea salt applied directly to the skin. Talk about refreshing!

PS16_1007_r3_cropThen came time to rebalance my complexion using Tulasara Bright Concentrate and Professional Recovery Serum, followed by Aveda’s Tourmaline Radiance Masque, rolled onto the skin with chilled rose-quartz gemstone to boost the mask’s effects. Finally, Alex applied Aveda’s Botanical Kinetics Soft Cream and Energizing Eye Cream to lock in moisture and protect my skin.

I was left feeling relaxed and refreshed, not to mention curious about how my skin would fare after such a thorough treatment. Looking in the mirror, I noticed my complexion looked fresher and brighter on the spot. Better still, the glow lasted for days with zero post-facial peeling or redness.
